Matildas stars want to play USA

Westfield Matildas superstar Lisa De Vanna and at least five other Matildas want to play against the USA next week, despite the PFA claiming the national team would refuse to take on the world champions.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) is the only body that sanctions national team and club matches, not the PFA.

The PFA have declared the national team would refuse to take the field against the US due to a dispute over the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

But according to reports in the Herald Sun, at least six players including World Cup hero De Vanna, want to play against the USA in a game that’s reportedly sold around 60,000 tickets.

And they'll get the backing by FFA to play the game.

“I just want to play for my country. It’s all I want to do,” De Vanna said.

“If my coach calls me and asks me to play I will always make myself available.

“At my age I am not sure if the opportunity to play the world champions will come up again.”
