Stats comparison: Julie Murray v Sam Kerr

Following the Westfield Matildas' superb home series win over Brazil, we compare some of the current stars to those who wore the green and gold with distinction in years gone by.

Today it's Julie Murray and Sam Kerr.

JULIE MURRAY

After beginning her international career as a 15-year-old in 1986, Julie was a fixture in the Matildas for 15 years where she went on to represent Australia 67 times scoring 19 goals.

During her time as a Matildas player, Murray was involved in two World Cups as well as representing her country at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

Murray also was the first Australian female footballer to play professionally overseas with Danish First Division side Fortuna Hjorring in 1990.

Soon after her time in Europe in 2001, Murray was then drafted into the WUSA Professional Women's Soccer League in the United States where she won a Championship in her debut season with the Bay Area CyberRays.

SAM KERR

The Westfield Matildas golden girl was also 15 when she made her international debut as a substitute against Italy in Canberra in 2009.

She has been a fixture in the Australian side ever since, making her 55th appearance in the 3-2 win over Brazil in Newcastle, during which she scored her 15th international goal.

The 24-year-old plays for Sky Blue FC in the National Women's Soccer League in the USA and needs just one more strike to set a new season record of 17 goals.

Tickets for the Westfield Matildas' clashes with China are now on sale.

She is also the competition’s all-time leading goal-scorer.

Following the NWSL campaign, the electric striker will return to Australia to play for Perth Glory in the upcoming Westfield W-League 2017/18 season.
