Westfield Matildas defender Alanna Kennedy is celebrating a National Women’s Soccer League title after her Western New York Flash outfit claimed an enthralling shoot-out win over Washington Spirit on Sunday.
Kennedy’s side twice came from behind in the final at Houston's BBVA Compass Stadium, with the scores locked at 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes and 2-2 following extra-time.
Goalkeeper Sabrina D'Angelo was the hero for the Flash in the shoot-out, making three penalty saves to clinch the championship.
