Westfield Matildas abroad: Kerr v Williams in USA

Two Westfield Matildas came head-to-head in the latest round of National Women's Soccer League action in the USA.

Houston Dash's Lydia Williams played host to Samantha Kerr's Sky Blue FC in round five action.

Kerr took the bragging rights, the Matildas striker scoring past her international team-mate in goal for Houston.

Kerr also provided an audacious assist to help Sky Blue FC to a 3-1 away win.

Meantime, Steph Catley and Alanna Kennedy anchored the Orlando Pride defence as they inflicted the first defeat of the season on league leaders North Carolina Courage.

Fellow Australian defender Laura Alleway was an unused substitute.

And striker Hayley Raso played a full 90 minutes in the third-placed Portland Thorns’ 0-0 stalemate at Kansas City.

EUROPEAN ACTION

In Norway, Emily Gielnik scored her second goal of the season for Toppserien league leaders Avaldsnes.

The Westfield Matildas striker scored in just the second minute to help Avaldsnes to a 3-2 win at Grand Bodo.

Fellow Australian Chloe Logarzo also played 90 minutes while Gema Simon was a 70th minute substitute.

Avaldsnes are unbeaten after five games.

Meantime, Tameka Butt played a full part in Klepp's 1-1 draw with Roa.

The point keeps Klepp in fifth place on the Toppserien table.

In Germany, Emily van Egmond was a second half substitute as her already-crowned Bundesliga champion side Wolfsburg lost 1-0 at Freiburg.

Wolfsburg will finish their title-winning season at home to USV Jena on Monday.
