Westfield Matildas USA NWSL wrap

Bragging rights went to Hayley Raso after the first round of the US National Women's Soccer League season, while Lydia Williams was in her customary imperious form between the sticks for Houston.

The Matildas' rising star Raso played the last 30 minutes of Portland Thorns' 2-0 victory over the Orlando Pride.

Raso's international team-mates Steph Catley and Alanna Kennedy played the full 90 minutes for the Pride. Laura Alleway was an unused substitute.

Meantime, Lydia Williams has enjoyed a successful start to the NWSL season.

The Matildas goalkeeper has kept a clean sheet in Houston Dash's season-opening 2-0 home win against Chicago Red Stars.

And striker Samantha Kerr played a full 90 minutes as her Sky Blue FC secured a point in a 1-1 draw at Seattle Reign FC.

Both goals came from the penalty spot.
