Today (Feb 26) marks the 100-day countdown to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 with celebrations across the host nation – meanwhile the Westfield Matildas are overseas in preparation for June’s big event.
Celebrations for the 100-day milestone have begun in the host cities of Vancouver, British Columbia; Edmonton, Alberta; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Ottawa, Ontario; Montreal, Quebec; and Moncton, New Brunswick.
In Canada, the host cities will unveil scarves featuring the official slogan “To a Greater Goal” to kick off a scarf campaign that will continue through the tournament.
Interest has been strong from the ticket-buying public, too. More than half a million fans have already claimed their seats for the tournament.
To celebrate FIFA have a range of cool content to give fans a taste of what they can look forward to in the lead-up to and during the event.

Meanwhile, the Westfield Matildas left Australia in recent days for a six-week World Cup preparation tour that will encompass the Cyprus Cup and an extensive training camp in Italy.
The 22-player Westfield Matildas squad comprises 17 players who were part of the recent international tri series in New Zealand, with the additions of Laura Alleway, Kate Gill, Collette McCallum and Gema Simon – a quartet with a combined 188 international matches between them – who have all overcome injury to be selected.
