ACTION IN THE UK…   BARCLAYCARD PREMIER LEAGUE Date: 08-05-04 *          Socceroo Lucas Neill was replaced in the 59th minute while Socceroo Brett Emerton came on in the 62nd minute as Blackburn Rovers lost 1-0 away to Tottenham Hotspur. Blackburn remains in 13th place with one game remaining. *          Socceroo Stan Lazaridis played a full game as Birmingham City lost 3-0 at home against Liverpool. Meanwhile, for Liverpool, Socceroo Harry Kewell also played a full game. Birmingham remains in 10th spot while Liverpool look to have secured the final UEFA Champions League spot, as they are five points clear of Newcastle who has two games remaining. *          Socceroo Mark Schwarzer (gk) played a full game as Middlesbrough won 2-1 at home against Manchester City.

NATIONWIDE DIVISION ONE Date: 09-05-04 *          Socceroo Tony Popovic (pictured right) played a full game and received a yellow card as Crystal Palace lost 2-1 away to Coventry City. Palace confirmed a play-off berth as they finished in 6th place. *          Socceroo Tony Vidmar played a full game as Cardiff City drew 1-1 away to Ipswich Town. Cardiff will remain in the English Nationwide Division One next season as they finished in 13th position. *          Socceroo Tim Cahill played a full game as Millwall won 1-0 at home against Bradford City. Meanwhile, for Bradford, Australian Under 23 Gareth Edds came on in the 48th minute. Millwall finished the season in 10th position while Bradford ended their campaign in 23rd position and was relegated to Division Two. *          Socceroo Steve Corica remained on the bench as Walsall won 3-2 at home against Rotherham United. Walsall finished in 20th position, level on points with Gillingham in 19th, and was relegated to the Nationwide Division Two by virtue of an inferior goal difference. *          John Filan (gk) played a full game as Wigan Athletic drew 1-1 at home against West Ham United. The draw ended Wigan-s promotion chances as they finished in 7th position, 2 points away from a play-off berth.

NATIONWIDE DIVISION TWO Date: 08-05-04 *          Les Pogliacomi (gk) played a full game as Oldham Athletic drew 1-1 away Notts County. Oldham ended the campaign in 15th position. *          Paul Reid played a full game as Brighton and Hove Albion won 2-0 away to Wrexham. Brighton secured a play-off position by finishing in 4th position. *          Chris Coyne played a full game as Luton Town lost 1-0 away to Chesterfield. Luton finished the season in 10th position. *          Richard Johnson played a full game as QPR won 3-1 away to Sheffield Wednesday. QPR finished in 2nd spot, a point ahead of 3rd place and guaranteed the 2nd automatic promotion place. *          Joel Porter was replaced in the 58th minute as Hartlepool drew 1-1 away to Swindon Town. Hartlepool finished in 6th spot, level on points with Port Vale in 7th, but gained the final play-off berth with a superior goal difference.

NATIONWIDE DIVISION THREE Date: 08-05-04 *          Danny Allsopp played a full game as Hull City won 3-0 at home against Bristol Rovers. Hull finished the season in 2nd position and has secured automatic promotion to the Nationwide Division Two.

SCOTTISH PREMIER LEAGUE Date: 09-05-04 *          Stuart Lovell came in the 86th minute as Livingston drew 2-2 at home against Partick Thistle. Meanwhile, for Partick, Australian Under 23 Adrian Madaschi played a full game and scored the opening goal in the 5th minute. Date: 08-05-04 *          Australian Under 23 Patrick Kisnorbo came on in the 69th minute as Hearts won 2-0 away to Dundee United. Hearts is in 3rd position and three games remaining is looking fairly good to secure a UEFA Cup spot. *          Australian Under 23 Scott McDonald played a full game and received a yellow card as Motherwell lost 1-0 at home against Dundee United. *          Danny Invincibile played a full game as Kilmarnock lost 2-0 away to Dundee.   SCOTTISH DIVISION TWO Date: 08-05-04 *          Marco Maisano replaced John Maisano in the 46th minute as Greenock Morton lost 4-1 at home against Stenhousemuir. Sturm is in 9th position with two games remaining.   BELGIAN DIVISION ONE (JULIPER LEAGUE) Date: 08-05-04 *          Archie Thompson came on in the 65th minute and scored the final goal of the game in the 79th minute as Lierse won 4-0 at home against Huesden Zolder. Lierse currently lie in 9th position on 39 points, with just one game remaining. *          Socceroo Stephen Laybutt was replaced in the 88th minute as Mouscron won 3-2 at home against Germinal Beerschot. Mouscron is in 4th position with one game remaining.

ITALIAN DIVISION ONE (SERIE A) Date: 09-05-04 *          Socceroo Zeljko Kalac played a full game as Perugia won 3-1 away to Roma. Perugia remains in 17th position and need to win their final game of the season, and hope that Empoli and Modena both lose, to have any hope of escaping relegation. *          Socceroo Marco Bresciano was replaced in the 75th minute as Parma lost 1-0 away to Inter Milan. Parma needs to win at home against Udinese and hope that Inter Milan lose and Lazio lose or draw to secure the final UEFA Champions league spot. *          Socceroo Vince Grella was replaced in the 54th minute as Empoli lost 2-1 away to Ancona. Empoli are in 16th position level on points with Modena who are in 15th place. Empoli needs to beat Inter Milan, and hope that Modena lose away to Lazio next weekend, to finish 15th and secure a place in the relegation play-off.

ITALIAN DIVISION TWO (SERIE B) Date: 08-05-04 *          Max Vieri came on in the 81st minute as Napoli drew 1-1 at home against Venezia. Napoli is in 13th position, with 5 games remaining, and look like remaining in mid table.

MALTESE DIVISION ONE Date: 09-05-04 *          Peter Pullicino played a full game as Hibernians won 4-1 away to Marsaxlokk. Hibernians finished the season in 3rd position on 35 points.

NORWEGIAN DIVISION ONE (TIPPELIGAEN) Date: 09-05-04 *          Australian Under 23 Dylan MacAllister came on in the 73rd minute as Brann Bergen lost 3-1 away to Sogndal. *          Shane Stefanutto played a full game as Lillestrom drew 2-2 away to Molde.
