Archie - Post Bahrain

Australia won its opening match of the 2007 Asian Cup qualifiers against Bahrain in Manama, with what was a very second string side.

The 3-1 win featured only several players from the squad that was part of the Uruguay series in November, with one them being Archie Thompson, who played a major role in the Bahrain victory.

Thompson, who is currently on loan at PSV Eindhoven in Holland, scored a goal and helped set up another for midfielder Josip Skoko in the win.
