Asa Requests Medical Information From Clubs

The Australian Soccer Association today confirmed that it had written to a number of clubs requesting further medical information in respect of the Socceroo squad members who, due to injury, did not travel to Venezuela for the forthcoming senior national team game scheduled to take place on Wednesday 18 February 2004.

Once received, ASA will then consider using FIFA regulations to enforce its player selection policy as required. Meanwhile, discussions have continued overnight with Mark Viduka and Leeds United, with ASA expected to finalise this issue within the next 48 hrs.  No further comment will be made prior to a conclusion being reached, with a public statement to be issued at the appropriate time.
