Qantas Socceroo Robbie Kruse has started his Bundesliga career in style, setting up a goal in Fortuna Dusseldorf's opening day win.

Striker Dani Schahin scored both goals as Dusseldorf marked their 15-year return to the Bundesliga with a 2-0 victory over Augsborg.

Schahin opening the scoring in the 69th minute, before converting Kruse's cross 10 minutes later to decide the result.

After a tough debut season in Germany, where he struggled to make an impact as his team won promotion to the top tier, the Socceroo will now hope to cement a starting place in Norbert Meier's side, and will keep him in the mind of Australia boss Holger Osieck.
