Mark Schwarzer has kept a clean sheet to help Fulham record their first win over Liverpool at Anfield for the first time in a whopping 42 meetings.

A Martin Skrtel own goal proved the difference and allowed Fulham to move up the ladder.

Fulham scored fom the game's first attack, Clint Dempsey's pass sent former Liverpool fullback John Arne Riise down the left-hand touchline and his cross into the six-yard box was met by another former Anfield player in Alex Kacaniklic.

The 20-year-old's mishit shot bounced against Skrtel's legs, wrong-footing Doni on its way into the net.

Liverpool were on the attack and Schwarzer was under the pump, spilling a cross under pressure from Andy Carroll which allowed Maxi Rodrigues to square the ball for Jonjo Shelvey whose shot beat Schwarzer only to be cleared off the line by Brede Hangeland.

Schwarzer then had plenty to do in the second stanza making a fine save to deny Jay Spearing and making himself big as Rodriguez bore down only for the Argentine to be tackled by Hangeland.

Dalglish brought on Stewart Downing and switched to a 4-4-2 formation at the interval with early second half signs looking promising as Shelvey volleyed over and Jay Spearing dispossessed Dempsey before testing Schwarzer with a 20-yard shot which the Australian kept out at full-stretch.

Hangeland was also required to make an impressive and timely tackle to halt the progress of Maxi as he surged into the area and bore down on Schwarzer's goal.

But Fulham began to exploit some of the gaps created by Liverpool's increasing attacking urgency.

Elsewhere Tim Cahill continued his run of form, playing his part in a goalmouth scramble with Stoke. The Qantas Socceroos proving a menace in the box as usual and his flicked on header managed to find its way into the net after bouncing off Peter Crouch.

Stoke would hit back late though, sneaking away from the Britannia Stadium with a 1-1 draw. The result though does keep Everton above Merseyside rivals Liverpool on the EPL Ladder.
