Australia's young women draw with South Korea

The Westfield Australian U-17 Women’s team have recorded a 1-all draw against the Korea Republic U-17 Women’s team

The Westfield Australian U-17 Women-s team have recorded a 1-all draw against the Korea Republic U-17 Women-s team in their international friendly match at the National Football Training Centre in Paju, Korea Republic.

The Westfield Australian U-17 Women-s team had a shaky start and conceded a goal from a cross in the 7th minute, but after 20 minutes started to settle into the game and got stronger as the half wore on.

Ayesha Norrie seemed to have equalised for the Westfield Australian U-17 Women-s team in the 42nd minute but her long range goal was disallowed due to an offside call.

The Westfield Australian U-17 Women-s team were spurred on by the decision and started to get the upper hand in the game in the second half.

Alycia Macqueen scored a justified equaliser in the 54th minute for the Westfield Australian U-17 Women-s team and from then on the game become a tense battle as the sides started to fatigue and the game opened up but neither side could find the winning goal.

The Westfield Australian U-17 Women-s team will play another international friendly match against Korea Republic on Wednesday 15th May as part of its preparation for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-16 Women-s Championships in September 2013. The 2013 AFC U-16 Women-s Championships is the official FIFA qualifying tournament for the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women-s World Cup.
