Qantas Young Socceroo midfielder James Wesolowski has suffered a broken leg, following a challenge from Celtic-s Bobo Balde in Tuesday night-s so-called friendly match.
Wesolowski was given a chance to keep pressing his claims for a first-team squad place by manager Craig Levein, after impressive performances in the clubs trial matches in Norway last week.
However Balde-s challenge left the 17-year-old needing emergency treatment on the pitch before being taken to hospital. Levein told Leicester-s website, “James has unfortunately broken his leg. I really feel for him. He's only burst on the scene in the last week or so and has performed remarkably well for one so young. "Psychologically this will be a real blow for him, but he is mentally a very strong kid." “He was in the team on merit and the evidence was there to show that in the game.” Levein also revealed the break is in a bad area and will need to be pinned.
If it-s as serious as is feared, Wesolowski is likely to miss the entire season.
