Soccernet.com reports Middlesbrough have revealed that discussions over Qantas Socceroo goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer's future at the club could be resolved positively 'in the very near future'.

Boro chief executive Keith Lamb dismissed reports which have claimed negotiations have hit a stumbling block. The Australian stopper's current deal runs out at the end of this season and the Teessiders are keen to secure his future at the Riverside.   'I have read press reports recently claiming that there have been no discussions regarding Mark's future at the football club,' Lamb told the club's official website.   'Let me make it absolutely clear that I have had lengthy discussions with Mark's nominated representative and those talks are ongoing. We are very keen to ensure that Mark stays at Middlesbrough and hope we can agree personal terms in the very near future.'   Manchester United have been repeatedly linked with a move for the 32-year-old former Bradford goalkeeper in recent seasons.   The signing of Tim Howard last year had seemed to have satisfied United's need for a goalkeeper, but the American has recently suffered a dip in form, prompting a new wave of speculation.
