Brazil will field a near full-strength squad against the Westfield Matildas when they take the field at Queensland Sports & Athletic Centre in Brisbane this afternoon. The world No.6 will be without superstar Marta, missing due to injury, but will still boast a formidable lineup for the two game series.

Former World Player of the Year finalist Cristiane will certainly be one to watch, while diminutive midfielder Formiga is set to receive her 100th international cap for the Seleção. Brazil coach Marcio Oliveira will use the matches to run his thumb over his squad as they prepare for the South American Championships, which double as their World Cup qualifiers.

A representative of the Brazil women's team Fernanda Coimbra said the side had acclimatised well to Brisbane's conditions and were looking forward to some much needed game time after an arduous journey.

“The team arrived in Brisbane on Thursday night after nearly 40 hours in transit so we have had a relatively relaxed buildup in preparation for today's match,” said Coimbra.

“The conditions have been beautiful - it's almost like we haven't left home so we're really looking forward to playing some good football.

“We've just been working on our positional play but certainly as the coach has said we're here to win.”

Meanwhile the Matildas will be eager to put a tumultuous couple of days behind them with reports of unrest from a section of players within the squad. The Aussies will surely be looking to do their talking on the pitch and concentrate on their own World Cup qualification plans, with the Matildas seeking to defend their AFC Asian Cup title in Vietnam next month.

Co-Captain Kathryn Gill has the opportunity to equal Cheryl Salisbury-s record for the Most Number of A-International goals by a Matilda which stands at 38 goals. While Rhali Dobson, Casey Dumont and Amy Harrison are all in line to make their senior international debuts.

Brisbane fans will have the opportunity to see a number of their state representatives in action, with eight Roar players selected in the 23-player squad. Tickets for this afternoon's match are still available and the game will be broadcast live and exclusive on ABC TV.
