Cahill A Chance To Play Against Southampton

Everton boss David Moyes has confirmed midfielder Tim Cahill could play against Southampton on Saturday.

Everton boss David Moyes has confirmed midfielder Tim Cahill (pictured right) could play against Southampton on Saturday.

The Australian midfielder looked set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he was hurt by an ugly tackle by Tottenham's Jamie Redknapp, who has since charged by the Football Association.

The Everton manager said: "He has got a good chance of being okay for the weekend. He has been working hard and is recovering well.

"After the Spurs game there was concern he'd damaged his cruciate but the scan has provided good news," added Moyes.

Cahill was all set to be part of Australia-s squad to play the Solomon Islands, but was forced to miss the two-match series because of the injury.

Since arriving at Everton, Cahill has certainly been in the headlines, with two match-winning goals, a bizarre send-off for celebrating his first goal for Everton and then the injury, although more so because of the tackle, which only received a yellow card.    In further news concerning injured Aussies, Mark Viduka is hopeful of return to action against Blackburn Rovers, which should also feature his Middlesbrough teammate Mark Schwarzer and Australia's Blackburn players Brett Emerton and Lucas Neill.   Stan Lazaridis is not going to be risked by Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce until he is 100% fit despite the club suffering a number of injuries to key midfielders.
