Everton sell Cahill to New York Red Bulls

Tim Cahill has been sold by Everton to New York Red Bulls, pending that the Qantas Socceroo passes a medical.

Everton have confirmed that Qantas Socceroos star Tim Cahill is set for a move to America-s Major League Soccer, specifically with the New York Red Bulls.

A statement on Everton-s club website confirmed it was a done deal for the Australian, subject to him passing a medical.

“Everton have agreed with Major League Soccer (MLS) that Tim Cahill can be transferred to the New York Red Bulls,” read the statement.

“Tim, 32, will move to the Red Bulls for a nominal fee, subject to agreeing personal terms and passing a medical. He will travel to the US in the next few days.

“He has played 278 times for Everton since his move from Millwall in 2004, scoring 68 goals. An Australian international with 55 caps, Tim has scored 24 times for his country.”

The move could almost be considered the end of an era at Goodison Park, Cahill having been a fan favourite and vital cog in David Moyes-s team since he moved there from Millwall.

A move to the USA would see him join a growing list of former EPL stars which includes David Beckham and Robbie Keane.
