Football Federation Australia today unveiled ticketing arrangements for this year-s FIFA World Cup 2006 qualifiers, and in the process launched a program to reward the football family.   In an unprecedented step, tickets for the Socceroos match against the fifth ranked South Americans will not be placed on general sale in the first instance.  As a significant gesture of recognition and appreciation to the Football Community of Australia, in the first instance FFA has given them exclusive priority access to tickets to the match. The FIFA World Cup qualifiers are also part of the Powerade Series.   The Football Community - or “Football Family” - includes * Participants (players and parents, coaches, officials and volunteers) * Members of clubs, including season pass holders of Hyundai A-League clubs * Those who show their support by attending the Socceroos v Solomon Islands world cup qualifier at Aussie Stadium on 3 September 2005

FFA CEO John O'Neill said the offer would reward those people that have given to football in Australia.   "The initiative offers a unique chance to demonstrate significant goodwill and support to grass roots participants and other supporters of the game of football in Australia," said Mr. O'Neill.   "These supporters deserve to get something back from all that they have put in to the game."   "FFA has a strategic priority of engaging with, and giving back to, the Football Community, and sees this offer as a way of advancing this strategy."   “It-s not too late to become a member of the Football Family. Sports fans can get involved by becoming a member of their Hyundai A-League club or buy a ticket to see our world cup qualifier against the Solomon Islands.”

Football Community members can register by going to www.myfootball.com.au. Those without internet access can register by telephone on 1300 307 296.   Football Community members that have pre-registered will have the opportunity to purchase up to four tickets for the November world cup qualifier. From Monday 26 September 2005 until Sunday 16 October 2005 (inclusive).

Tickets for the once-in-four-year event will start from as little as $65 for adults and $32.50 for concession/children.  A family pass will also be available for $130.   From 17 October, any tickets not taken up by the Football Family offer and any returns from FFA-s contractual and operational commitments will be put on general sale. There will be at least 1,000 tickets put on general sale.   FFA today confirmed that the qualifier against the Solomon Islands in September would be played on Saturday 3 September at Aussie Stadium with the return match scheduled for Honiara on Tuesday 6 September.  Tickets for that match are on sale today from all Ticketek outlets today (details below). Australia needs to win that series to gain the right to take on the 5th ranked CONMEBOL team in November for a spot in the finals to be played in Germany next year.   AUSTRALIA'S HOME WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS   Australia v Solomon Islands Saturday 3 September 2005 Aussie Stadium, Sydney
