Adelaide United goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic has received a late call up to the Socceroos squad for the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Asian Qualifier Round 4 match against Japan in Yokohama on Wednesday 11 February 2009.

Adelaide United goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic has received a late call up to the Socceroos squad for the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Asian Qualifier Round 4 match against Japan in Yokohama on Wednesday 11 February 2009.

Galekovic replaces fellow goalkeeper Adam Federici who sustained a slight back injury following his English Championship match for his club Reading in their 0-0 draw with Preston North End on Saturday. The selection comes after Eugene made his Socceroos debut in Jakarta late last month in the AFC Asian Cup 2011 Qualifier against Indonesia.

The Socceroos will go into the match sitting at the top of Group A of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Asian Qualifiers Round 4. In the other Group A match on Wednesday night, Uzbekistan host Bahrain in Tashkent, whilst Qatar have the Bye.
