Kennedy re-signs with NWSL club Orlando Pride

Westfield Matildas defender Alanna Kennedy has re-signed with Orlando Pride for the upcoming NWSL season, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old played all 25 games for the Pride during the 2017 season and helped the club to a third-place finish.

Kennedy netted five times in her first season in Orlando and scored the only goal in her side’s 4-1 Semi-Final loss to eventual Champions Portland Thorns.

Pride coach Tom Sermanni said he was thrilled to secure the versatile Australian’s services for another season.

“After playing such an important role in our success last year, we’re absolutely delighted to bring Alanna back for the upcoming season,” Sermanni told Orlando’s official club website.

“Alanna is the type of player who can change a game and whose versatility will, again, be extremely valuable for our squad.

“We wish her the best of luck in her upcoming matches with Australia and can’t wait to have her back with us in Orlando.”

Kennedy is currently in Portugal with the Westfield Matildas for the Algarve Cup.
