Kerr named in NWSL's 2017 Best XI

After a record-breaking campaign in the US, Westfield Matildas star Sam Kerr has been named in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Best XI.

Kerr was one of seven players to earn their first selection in the NWSL’s team of the year, rewarded for her sizzling form with Sky Blue FC.

The 24-year-old scored an incredible 17 goals during the regular season, setting a new record for the most goals scored in a single season.

She also become the first player to net four goals in a single match and also hit the league’s fastest ever hat-trick (12 minutes) in her side’s 5-4 win over Kansas City.

Kerr also became the first player to hit two hat-tricks in a season, and was named in the league’s Team of the Month in May, June, July and August.

The Westfield Matildas striker is also one of five nominees for the league’s Most Valuable Player.

Fellow Aussie Steph Catley was named in the NWSL’s second best XI earlier this week.
