Kewell and Beauchamp looking good for April 1

Socceroos Harry Kewell and Michael Beauchamp are putting their hands up for a recall to the squad for the vital FIFA World Cup™ qualification game on April 1 against Uzbekistan.

Kewell, who was out for two months and only just came back a month ago, helped Galatasaray to a 2-1 over Buraspor, setting up one goal for his team. The previous weekend he scored a fabulous goal, a 25-metre strike into the top corner, to leave little doubt he will be one of the first names looked at for the Uzbekistan match.

Beauchamp, who was out of action for many months, came back recently during AaB UEFA Cup matches and was part of the surprise 6-1 aggregate win over Spain-s Deportivo La Coruna.

The central defender has not played for Australia since the 2-1 over the Netherlands in September 2008, which was just before Australia-s opening game of the qualifiers against Uzbekistan in Tashkent.

A good run for AaB is sure to see him come back in calculations and put pressure on the central defensive pairing of Lucas Neill and Craig Moore for a starting berth.

Apart from long term injury casualty Brett Emerton, Mark Viduka remains an uncertain starter after pulling a hamstring following his latest comeback match a few weeks. It has been a nightmare period for Viduka, with injury pretty much ruining his season.

The Socceroos play Uzbekistan on April 1 at ANZ Stadium, with a win virtually guaranteeing Australia-s place in the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ finals in South Africa.

Tickets are still available and can be purchased from Ticketek.
