Scott McDonald tasted more success with Celtic in Scotland, winning the Scottish League Cup final 2-0 against arch rivals Rangers at Hampden Park.

McDonald didn-t get amongst the goals this time however, with both coming in extra time from Darren O-Dea and Aiden McGready from the penalty spot.

The news was also good for Socceroos defender Scott Chipperfield, who again found himself among the goals for FC Basel. He scored the team-s second goal in the 45th, with Basel eventually winning 4-0 over Sion.

The news wasn-t as good for Everton midfielder Tim Cahill, who was replaced at half time by David Moyes in his sides 3-1 win over Stoke City. Cahill was not put on in the second half, suffering from a slight groin strain, but more so from a precautionary point of view, with Everton already 2-0 at the break.

Vince Grella was not part of the Blackburn Rovers side that was thrashed 4-0 by Arsenal, but better news for Mark Schwarzer, a full game in a 3-1 over Bolton Wanderers; Brad Jones a full game in 1-1 with Portsmouth and Richard Garcia who came on in the second half and helped Hull City secure a 1-1 with Newcastle United. United didn-t feature Mark Viduka, who is likely to be sidelined for several more weeks.

Harry Kewell missed Galatasaray-s 2-2 draw away at Trabzonspor; Michael Petkovic played a full game as Sivasspor won 2-0 against Ankaragucu, while Mile Jedinak James Troisi and Bruce Djite were all on the field in Genclerbirligi-s 3-0 loss to Besiktas.

Jason Culina was back in PSV Eindhoven-s starting side for their trip to rivals Feyenoord, which ended in a 1-0 loss; but Brett Holman couldn-t manage game time for AZ Alkmaar again, sitting on the bench in a 1-0 win over FC Utrecht.

Mark Bresciano wasn-t able to force his way back into Palermo-s squad for the trip to Lecce, which ended in a 5-2 thrashing in favour of Bresc-s team. Carl Valeri was back in the Grosseto side that lost 2-0 to Salernitana.

Luke Wilkshire was back in action for Dinamo Moscow at the start of their season, playing a full game in a 1-0 win over FC Moscow; Nathan Burns enjoyed his third game in succession for AEK Athens, getting eight minutes in a 1-0 win over OFI Crete; Michael Beauchamp played a full game in AaB-s 1-1 draw with Sonderjylland; Shane Stefanutto played 90 minutes for Lyn FC against Molde; David Carney played half a game for Norwich in a 1-0 win over Plymouth Argyle and Nick Carle played 80-odd minutes in a 3-1 win over Swansea City.

Josh Kennedy, Mile Sterjovski and Adam Federici didn-t see any game time over the weekend.
