Neill linked to Saudi giants

Qantas Socceroos skipper Lucas Neill has been linked with a move to Saudi champions Al Shabab.

Lucas Neill has reportedly been offered a deal to stay in the Persian Gulf by Saudi champions Al Shabab, after being cut from the roster of UAE side Al Jazira last month.

The Qantas Socceroos skipper has been searching for a new deal since leaving the club and is apparently keen to continue earning the big money on offer in the Middle East.

And while Al Shabab want the defender to join their ranks the reported asking price of over one million per season may just be the sticking point with a Qatari agent telling The World Game the following.

"Al Shabab are keen on Lucas Neill because of his undoubted quality but his age is probably what may stand against him when it comes to commanding the sort of money that he did last season with Al Jazira.”

“But the offer is on the table for the player and the decision is his to make.”

Playing for Al Shabab would give Neill the chance to ply his trade for one of the biggest teams in Asia after they went through the last Saudi season undefeated, which would also mean he could be on show in the AFC Champions League next season.

All transfer rumours are unconfirmed until actual signings are made.
