Thailand, who have now won the title for the fourth straight time, were backed by a parochial crowd at the Hua Mak Indoor Stadium and had Australia on the back foot early and showed why they were favourites to defend their title.

The home team led 4-0 at the break as they were quicker to the ball and made Australia pay for some errors at the back.

An improved performance by Australia in the second half, saw them rewarded with a goal to Simon Keith, but in the end the Thais were too strong on the day.
