The Qantas Young Matildas have secured a convincing 4-0 win over New Zealand in Canberra this evening in their final match prior to next month-s Asian U-20 Women-s World Championship qualifying tournament in Thailand.

The first half was scoreless in a match played in warm conditions at the Australian Institute of Sport. However second half goals from Jenna Tristram (pictured right), Sasha McDonnell, Collette McCallum and Leena Khamis ensured the Australians improved on their 3-1 victory over the same opponent on Wednesday.

The winning margin could have been even greater with McCallum striking the post and Tristram having a goal ruled out in the dying minutes.

Australia will contest Group 2 of the preliminary qualifying tournament March 5-9 against Singapore, Myanmar and host-nation Thailand. If successful the Qantas Young Matildas will then progress to the final stage of qualifying in Malaysia April 8-18.

The 2006 FIFA U-20 Women-s World Championship will be played in Russia in September.
