Rumour Mill: Burns and Troisi to Jets?

Nathan Burns has got his release from AEK Athens and has reportedly received interest from both Newcastle Jets and Adelaide United.

Newcastle Jets are looking to reverse their fortunes via the January transfer window and are reportedly chasing recently released AEK Athens star Nathan Burns as they look to shore up their midfield.

Burns tweeted his departure from the Greek giants, but offered zero hint of where he might be heading, with Asia, Europe or a return to Australia the many and varied options available to the left-sided player.

‘‘As you may know I have terminated my contract today from AEK Athens,-- he tweeted.

‘‘I thank AEK for the past three years and many great memories.

‘‘Not sure what team I-m heading to yet. Maybe next week I-ll have more news.--

While Burns was coy about his future, Burns-s manager Nick Mandic has reportedly said the Jets move was a strong possibility.

If signed Burns would be eligible to play as the Jets- Australian marquee, which does not come under the $2.35 million salary cap.

While the Jets have a reported interest in Burns they will also be battling a reunion with his former club Adelaide United and coach John Kosmina, who gave Burns his debut and saw him become one of the A-League's the most promising young players.

Continuing their pursuit of left-sided players, Newcastle have also been linked this week to a move for James Troisi, who reportedly wants out of his contract with Turkish club Kayserispor as the result of a pay dispute.
