Sbs Secure Rights To First Leg

SBS has secured the rights to the first leg of the World Cup qualifying play-off between Australia and Uruguay that will be shown LIVE on Sunday (November 13) morning from 9.30am.

SBS has secured the rights to the first leg of the World Cup qualifying play-off between Australia and Uruguay that will be shown LIVE on Sunday (November 13) morning from 9.30am.

After much speculation, Head of SBS Television, Shaun Brown, announced the network had successfully secured the LIVE & Exclusive broadcast rights to the 1st leg that will be played in Montevideo.

“It is very exciting that we were able to negotiate the broadcast rights for both of these crucial matches and provide free-to-air access to all Australians to witness the Socceroos quest for a position in Germany 2006,” said Mr Brown.

The match will be shown live to all centres (see local guides for details) and replayed at 5:00pm. Les Murray will host the match with commentary by Simon Hill, from Montevideo, with Andrew Orsatti, Craig Foster and Ned Zelic in the Sydney studios.

SBS will also show the second and final leg of the play-off, to be played at Sydney-s Telstra Stadium on Wednesday 16 November, LIVE from 7:00pm (AEDT).
