Australia-s opponent for a place at the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals in Germany will be decided next week and SBS has announced that it will show the decisive qualifiers from the final two rounds of the CONMEBOL qualifiers.

Five teams are potentially Australia-s opponent in the November play-off, although Colombia and Uruguay are looking the most likely opponent heading into the crucial penultimate round.

SBS Sport will bring all the tension and atmosphere of these final two rounds, by screening live into Australia the crucial matches that will decide who we play.

SBS Sport will present Colombia v Chile on Sunday 9 October, LIVE @6:45am AEST, including instant highlights of the other vital qualifier simultaneously played between Ecuador and Uruguay.

Then on Thursday 13 October @10:15am AEST the LIVE clash will feature either the Paraguay & Columbia match or Uruguay & Argentina. The designated televised match to be determined following the 9 October round.

The penultimate round has three matches that will prove significant in determining which teams remain in the hunt for the 5th place spot, going into the final round.

The Colombia and Chile clash is the highlight game, as both are on 20 points, a point behind Uruguay, who hold down 5th place. Uruguay face a tough challenge to beat Ecuador away, who themselves need a point to automatically qualify and are unbeaten at their impregnable home in Quito.

Many will be hoping Venezuela can cause an upset and beat Paraguay in Caracas, meaning both teams will still be in the hunt for 5th place. A win will guarantee Paraguay automatic qualification to the World Cup but a loss or draw will most likely still see them in the mix for 5th place.

That would leave a nail-biting final round the following Wednesday night.

Paraguay and Colombia could then prove the decisive fixture, with Uruguay facing a tough challenge to beat leaders Argentina, while Chile will be at home against Ecuador, who are not say great away from home.
