Coach Tom Sermanni has made six changes to the Qantas Matildas line-up for tonight-s final group match against Denmark at the Peace Cup in South Korea.
Making a first appearance in the tournament will be goalkeeper Emma Wirkus and defender Karla Reuter, with defender Kim Carroll, striker Kate Gill and midfielders Collette McCallum and Danielle Small also to start.
Australia need to defeat Denmark and rely on the USA dropping a point in the early match against the Netherlands to progress to Sunday-s final against Canada who last night were confirmed as top team in Group A.
“It is an important match for us, not only given we are potentially playing for a berth in the final, but also in that it is a relatively rare outing against European opposition,” said Qantas Matildas coach Tom Sermanni.
“It is important to learn how to play against different styles of football and the Danes are very much a typical European team.
“This will be a tough match but the players will find this very useful experience ahead of next year-s Olympic qualifiers against the 10th-ranked team in the world.”
The Australian line-up is:
Emma Wirkus, Kim Carroll, Karla Reuter, Cheryl Salisbury, Heather Garriock, Collette McCallum, Joanne Peters, Danielle Small, Kate Gill, Sarah Walsh, Caitlin Munoz.
The match kicks off at 7.00pm AEDT.
