Qantas Socceroo midfielder Josip Skoko has had second thoughts and decided to join English Championship side Stoke City on loan from Wigan Athletic until the end of the season.

Having initially rejected an earlier attempt by Stoke for a loan move, Skoko, with his opportunities at Wigan restricted to Cup matches, made a u-turn and has signed in time for this weekend-s match against Cardiff City.

Stoke City manager Johan Boskamp said: "It's great to get Josip because he gives us options. We need more players and he will be a good player for this club.

"I think the fans will really like him and now I want to see him play."

Stoke is currently 13th in the Championship and the regular first team football, is sure to keep him in the frame for the World Cup Finals squad.
