Socceroos Tom Rogic and James Holland have seen their club sides bow out of the UEFA Champions League on the back of this morning-s results. Meanwhile Mitch Langerak-s Borussia Dormund are in a strong position to progress to the round of 16 following their victory over Napoli.

Rogic was a second half substitute in Celtic-s disappointing home loss to Milan. The 20-year-old had made a sparkling contribution off the bench in Australia-s international win against Costa Rica last week but was not able to inspire a comeback from the Scottish champions. Rogic entered the fray with his side down 3-0, which would prove to be the final scoreline. The result leaves the Hoops at the bottom of Group H with just one game remaining in the group stage.

Midfielder James Holland played a full match in FK Austria Wien-s 1-1 draw away to FC Porto. In a tough group that also features Atletico Madrid and FC Zenit, the Austrian side netted their first goal of the group stage and were valiant in picking up a point at Estádio do Dragão. Austria had also picked up a point in Russia on matchday two but their poor showing at home means they are also unable to progress in Europe-s glamour tournament.

There was better fortunes for Langerak-s Borussia Dortmund side, which secured a much-needed 3-1 home win over Napoli. While the 25-year-old didn-t see any action, the result means last year-s finalists fate is in their own hands as they had been in danger of being eliminated. The German side-s progress in the tournament would not be without Langerak-s contribution as he had previously kept a cleansheet in their win over Olympique Marseille.

While Rogic and Holland will no doubt be disappointed to see their side drop out of Europe-s elite competition, the experience will no doubt be invaluable, with world football-s biggest stage now less than seven months away.
