Socceroos squad named for France and Canada

Holger Osieck today named a 24-player provisional squad for the upcoming international friendly matches against France and Canada.

Socceroos Head Coach Holger Osieck today named a 24-player provisional squad for the upcoming international friendly matches against France and Canada next month.

20-year old Jackson Irvine receives his first call-up to the Socceroos squad after starting in all three of the Young Socceroos matches at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey in June this year.

Oliver Bozanic, son of former Socceroo Vic Bozanic (Cap # 294), gets his second call-up to the Socceroos squad after being selected for his first ever squad in August 2009 when the Socceroos played the Republic of Ireland in Limerick.

Mathew Leckie and Nikita Rukavytsya both return after last appearing for the Socceroos against the Korea Republic in November last year and also scoring for their club FSV Frankfurt last weekend.

David Carney and Jason Davidson also both return after varying periods of absence and Dario Vidosic gets named for the first time since his move from Adelaide United to FC Sion in Switzerland.

Tim Cahill and Luke Wilkshire have been included after they both missed the recent match against Brazil due to injury.

Should Lucas Neill captain the Socceroos against both France and Canada he will equal Peter Wilson-s record of 60 matches as Socceroos captain.

The international friendly against France will be played at the Parc de Princes, Paris on Friday 11 October 2013 (kick-off at 9:00pm CEST (6:00am AEDT, Saturday 12 October) whilst the match against Canada will be played at Craven Cottage, London on Tuesday 15 October at 8:00pm BST (6:00am AEDT, Wednesday 16 October).

This will be the fourth match between France and Australia at senior men-s international level and the ninth match between Canada and Australia.

Both Socceroo matches against France and Canada will be broadcast live and exclusive on FOX SPORTS.
