Socceroos v Lebanon ticketing details

Football Federation Australia (FFA) released details of the ticketing program for the upcoming Socceroos v Lebanon AFC Asian Cup 2007 Qualifying match which will be played at Adelaide Oval (Adelaide - South Australia) on Thursday 31 August 2006.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) released details of the ticketing program for the upcoming Socceroos v Lebanon AFC Asian Cup 2007 Qualifying match which will be played at Adelaide Oval (Adelaide - South Australia) on Thursday 31 August 2006.

Once again the 30,000 members of the Football Family from around Australia will have a two day priority purchasing period from 9am (local) on 17 July, followed by South Australian Cricket Association members who will be able to purchase tickets from 18 July, with remaining tickets then going on sale to the general public at 9am (local) on Thursday, July 20 2006.

The match is the Socceroos first game in Adelaide since their appearance in 2004 during the OFC Oceania Nations Cup.

Football supporters in Australia have already responded positively in the aftermath of Australia-s recent World Cup campaign, this week snapping up all available tickets to the August 16 match against Kuwait in Sydney, in a matter of hours.

Football Federation Australia Chief Executive, Mr John O-Neill, said the Asian Cup Qualifying fixture with Lebanon was a fantastic opportunity for South Australian Football fans to show their support for the Socceroos.

“Fans in South Australia have campaigned for some time for us to bring the Socceroos to Adelaide,” he said. “It is terrific that our new membership of the Asian Football Confederation - together with the terrific support of the South Australian Government - provides this opportunity to bring such an important fixture to the Adelaide Oval so soon after the World Cup. We are really looking forward to seeing South Australia-s national pride on show again for the Socceroos - with plenty of green and gold.”

The Asian Cup is one of world football-s biggest events. The 2004 final between Japan and China was watched by a cumulative TV audience of 748 million viewers.

Japan is the defending Asian Cup champions and the Socceroos pose a serious threat to their title hopes having defeated the Blue Samurai 3-1 in the opening FIFA World Cup group match in Germany last month.

Firstly, however, the Socceroos must finish either first or second in their Asian Cup group to qualify for the finals which will be played in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam in July, 2007.

The Socceroos will play their third home game in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifying Tournament against Bahrain at Sydney-s Aussie Stadium on October 11.
