James Troisi could be headed to the English Premier League after the Italian-based Socceroos midfielder was informed that he could explore his options as the transfer window draws to a close.

Troisi, currently co-owned by Juventus and Atalanta, was initially linked to a loan move to Championship club and former home of Socceroos captain Lucas Neill in the Blackburn Rovers by Italian media.

He is now said to have also have been in season-long loan talks with English Premier League side Norwich City.

Canaries manager Chris Hughton is looking to bring in a replacement for fellow attacker Elliott Bennett who suffered a season-ending knee ligament injury.

If the move goes ahead and Troisi does become a regular starter for Hughton he will join compatriot Mile Jedinak as the only Australian starters in the Premier League at least for the immediate future.

Troisi on the books of Newcastle United until the end of the 2008 season but never got on the pitch for the senior English Premier League side.

He left England to play in Turkey where he lined up for Gençlerbirligi and Kayserispor before being signed by Juventus in 2012.

Half of his rights were then sold on to Atalanta as a part of a transfer deal between the clubs and played 6 games for Atalanta in 2012.
