U-19s Asian Final to be Televised
Fox Sports to broadcast the final of AFC U-19 Championship between Qantas Young Socceroos and DPR Korea
Football Federation Australia (FFA) is pleased to announce that Fox Sports will broadcast “Live and Exclusive” the final of the AFC U-19 Championship between the Qantas Young Socceroos and DPR Korea this Sunday (17 October 2010) from the Zibo Sports Center in Zibo, China (Kick-off 7:30pm local, 10:30pm AEDT).
FFA CEO Ben Buckley said that this was a great move by Fox Sports to broadcast the AFC U-19 Championship final live.
“It is testament to Fox Sports- commitment to football in Australia that they will broadcast this important continental championship match and we thank them for their support.
“The Qantas Young Socceroos, lead by Head Coach Jan Versleijen and captain Ben Kantarovksi, have had a very successful tournament in China so far and it is fantastic that Australian football supporters will now be able to watch and cheer them on for Sunday-s final.
“I am sure I speak on behalf of all football supporters in Australia when we wish Jan and the players all the best for the match and I am confident that whatever the result they will do Australia proud,” concluded Buckley.
After topping Group D of the AFC U-19 Championship, the Qantas Young Socceroos defeated the United Arab Emirates 4-2 in the quarter finals and then Saudi Arabia 2-0 in the semi final to advance to the tournament decider.
In the process the Qantas Young Socceroos also qualified of the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be held in Colombia, by virtue of finishing as one of the top four placed nations of the AFC U-19 Championship
