Under 16's in massive win over Philippines
The Westfield Women’s U/16 team has qualified for the next years AFC U16 Women’s Asian Cup tournament after a thumping 20-0 victory over the Philippines in Kuala Lumpur earlier tonight.

The result was never in doubt from the moment they took the lead after 7 minutes and by half time had added a further 9 goals. They managed to double the half time score by full time to continue the teams impressive performances at the qualifying tournament.
In all nine players got their names on the scoresheet, with Michaela Hatzirodos, Caitlin Foord and substitute Tara Andrews all grabbing hat-tricks in the big win.
It was Hatzirodos that opened the scoring after seven minutes with a nice turn and shot past the Philippines and the procession continued six minutes later with a Stott finishing excellent play by Australia that featured seven players.
Foord scored her first goal when she stabbed home from a corner, while captain Ruth Wallace scored a terrific individual goal after beating four defenders.
The goals continued to flow and with three in quick succession just prior to half time, including Foord grabbing her hat-trick, the scoreline was at 10-0.
Coach Gary Phillips implored his team to continue the goals avalanche in the second half and Hatzirodos needed only three minutes to start the second half goals rush and in the process netting her hat-trick.
Half time substitute Gibbons then added two screamers in a matter of minutes, while Searl, Andrews and Whitfield were also on target had blown the score out to 16-0 within 20 minutes of the second half.
The team finally took its foot off the pedal, with Andrews, Whitfield and Kennedy and then Andrews again in injury time, which made it a hat-trick for her and the final score of 20-0.
Phillips was very happy with the performance, but knows the teams biggest test will come on Monday when they face Thailand.
“I was pleased with the effort and very pleased that much of the training ground drills were being adopted by the players,” he said.
“It-s fairly easy to switch off being so far in front at half time, but I was pleased with the fact that the team continually went looking for the goals, despite the mounting tally.
“We now have Thailand on Monday and I am expecting this match to be the toughest of the four. We want to make sure we finish top of this group,” he concluded.
The match against Thailand kicks off at 6.30pm (9.30pm AEDT).
