Westfield Matildas Asian Cup opponent fixture history: Vietnam

The Westfield Matildas have been drawn with Japan, Korea Republic and Vietnam in their group at the Asian Cup 2018 in Jordan. 

So, how have Australia fared against Vietnam in their most-recent three clashes?

As you'll see, the Australian women have dominated, scoring a staggering 24 goals and conceding none. 

March 2, 2016 Australia 9-0 Vietnam (Olympics 2016 qualifier in Osaka)

After disposing of Japan in the opening game of qualifiers, the Australians ran riot on the Road to Rio. 

A first half hat-trick to Kyah Simon at Nagai Stadium began the rout. 

It was also the game where a 15-year-old Ellie Carpenter debuted for the Aussies, in turn becoming the first millennial to represent Australia.

May 21, 2015  Australia 11-0 Vietnam (friendly in Sydney)

The second of two friendlies in Sydney was the most one-sided. 

The fans at Jubilee Oval saw Sam Kerr and Lisa De Vanna score a brace each, followed up by Foord (1), Gorry (1), Alleway (1) and Van Egmond (1) while Michelle Heyman smashed a hat-trick.

May 19, 2015  Australia 4-0 Vietnam (friendly in Sydney)

With the Australians preparing for a World Cup, they were in awesome form, putting four past the Vietnamese at Valentine Park. 

Steph Catley and Caitlin Foord on target in the opening half an hour before Kyah Simon, in her 50th Matildas appearance, and Heyman hit the net in the second half.
