The Westfield Matildas face Japan in AFC Asian Cup semi, winners qualify for next year's FIFA Women's World Cup
The Westfield Matildas are set to play Group A winners Japan in the semi-final of the 2010 AFC Women-s Asian Cup.
Japan won their final group match defeating DPR Korea 2-1 to earn the right to play Australia in the first semi-final on Thursday, May 27 at the Chengdu Sports Center Stadium in China.
Japan will be tough opposition after winning all their games. They've scored 14 goals and conceded only one in the process.
Home nation China will play DPR Korea in the other semi-final, after finishing one point ahead of Australia in Group B.
The winners of the semi-finals will both qualify for the FIFA Women-s World Cup 2011 in Germany and proceed to the AFC Asian Cup Final on Sunday, May 30, with the losers to fight it out for the final World Cup spot in the 3rd v 4th play-off.
The Westfield Matildas play Japan in their semi-final on Thursday at 6pm AEST, live and exclusive on ABC 2.
