The two-time FIFA Women's World Cup All-Star Team member, whose deal runs through to July, is looking forward to playing in the Damallsvenskan, her third league in Europe.

"Sweden has always been a good rival to Australia in international football, so this will be a special experience for me," Kellond-Knight told the club's website.

"Stockholm is a beautiful city and it feels good to come here after a couple of turbulent months in terms of my contract situation.

"I have had the privilege of playing in many countries during my career and it has given me experiences I hope to benefit Hammarby."

Hammarby sports director Johan Lager spoke excitedly of the acquisition.

"She is a player who holds the highest international class and has a solid track record and a high level of experience," Lager said.

"We are convinced that Elise will bring a lot to our squad."

Kellond-Knight is due to join up with her on team-mates on April 23, immediately following the conclusion of Australia's campaign in Jordan.
