Westfield Matildas: NWSL wrap

Following their series sweep of Brazil in front of record home crowds, the Westfield Matildas have returned to action with their club sides.

Five were in action in the latest round of the National Women's Soccer League in the United States.

NO RECORD YET FOR SAM

Sam Kerr was unable to score a record-breaking goal as her Sky Blue FC drew 1-1 with league-leaders North Carolina Courage.

The Westfield Matildas superstar needs just one more goal to create a new NWSL season record of 17.

Kerr was in the action throughout and provided the assist for team-mate Raquel Rodriguez to equalise after 75 minutes, following Ashley Hatch's 27th minute opener for the Courage.

TEAM-MATES IN STALEMATE

From team-mates to adversaries.

Hayley Raso squared off against fellow Westfield Matildas Steph Catley and Alanna Kennedy when Portland Thorns visited Orlando Pride.

Honours were even with neither side able to find the back of the net.

The point sees Portland remain second on the ladder with Orlando fourth.

LYDIA'S PAIN AS REIGN DIP OUT

Lydia Williams was unable to stop her Seattle Reign FC side being eliminated from playoff contention after a 1-0 loss to FC Kansas City.

The Westfield Matildas goalkeeper pulled off three sharp saves, but was unable to prevent Shea Groom scoring the game's only goal midway through the first half.

Lydia Williams has signed with Seattle Reign.

The result also marked the end of a 28-game home scoring streak for Seattle.
