Westfield Matildas star joins Utah Royals in NWSL

Westfield Matildas star Katrina Gorry has completed a move to new National Women’s Soccer League club Utah Royals for the 2018 season.

The 25-year-old previously spent time in the USA in 2014 with Kansas City, winning the NWSL title in her only season with the club.

Utah coach Laura Harvey admitted she was a long admirer of Gorry and was pleased to secure her services for the club’s maiden season.

“Katrina is a player that I have watched for a few years now, she has experience of playing in the U.S. with FC Kansas City,” Harvey told the club’s official website.

“Since she was here, she has gone away and developed her game further, and now together we felt it was the right time for her to come back to the league.

“Katrina has proven she can play anywhere in the world and I’m excited to get her back to the NWSL.”

Gorry made 13 appearances for Brisbane Roar in the Westfield W-League this season, scoring two goals.
