Westfield Young Matildas go into camp

Westfield Young Matildas coach Ante Juric will assemble a 26-player squad in Canberra this week to take part in a vital training camp ahead of qualifiers for next year’s AFC Under-19 Championships.

Juric and assistant Vicki Linton will put the squad through their paces from Tuesday until Friday in what is one of the final chances to impress before the coaches decide on a final squad to take part in the qualification series.

The Young Matildas have been put in Group C of the qualifiers and will go up against Vietnam, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Only the top team in the group will progress to next year’s AFC Under-19 Championships.

Korea Republic, DPR Korea, China and Japan were all given direct entry to the eight-team tournament as a result of making the semi-finals in the tournament’s last edition.
