Who is the next Sam Kerr? Lisa De Vanna reveals seven future stars

Australia and the world are head over heels for Sam Kerr. But who could emulate Australia's new global superstar over the coming years?

To answer that question, no-one is better qualified to assess the credentials of our next gen of superstars than 126-cap veteran Lisa De Vanna.

After announcing her signing with Sydney FC for the coming Westfield W-League season, the great De Vanna picked out a 15-year-old Victory striker as Australian football's next big thing, and a few other names.

So, keep an eye on these young women over the next few years.

KYRA COONEY-CROSS

“Kyra Cooney-Cross is someone who could be the next Sammy Kerr,” De Vanna told www.matildas.footballaustralia.com.au

“She's got the skills; she just needs to get the experience.

“She can finish, she's got a bit of spark about her, she's got that X-factor.

“If she's in the proper environment and has the right attitude, she'll be the next superstar in the next five or six years,” she said.

SOFIA SAKALIS

Cooney-Cross is in good company, with a raft of young players also set to make their mark.

“Sofia Sakalis is one I feel has got the potential to bloom as well” said De Vanna.

AND THERE'S MORE!

“Remy Siemsen and Princess Ibini are another two that are big guns for Sydney FC.

“In front of goal, Cortnee Vine and Melina Ayres are probably the most lethal strikers.

“And Jacynta Galabadaarachchi is also a fantastic young player."
