Wilkshire extends Moscow stay

Luke Wilkshire has extended his stay with Dynamo Moscow and will be with the club until the end of the 2014 season.

Socceroo defender Luke Wilkshire has extended his current deal with Dynamo Moscow and will stay with the Russian giants until the end of the 2013/14 season.

With the club currently sitting third in the Russian Premier league, it means if things stay as they are Wilkshire will gain the opportunity to represent them in the UEFA Champions League, as the top three Russian clubs automatically qualify for the competition.

It-s certainly a prospect Wilskhire is excited about.

“I-m delighted to be re-signing with Dynamo Moscow until the end of the 2014 season. I-ve loved my time at the club here so far, and I-m excited to help the team challenge for the title over the next few months,” Wilkshire said.

“Being at such an ambitious club will hopefully bring exciting opportunities to compete in European competitions, with the Champions League being a major ambition of mine.

“I-m obviously now settled in Moscow. The club-s always been great to me, I love playing in front of the Dynamo fans, and I-m glad that I know I-ll be here for a few more years.”

Wilkshire has been plying his trade for Dynamo Moscow since 2008 and has made 93 appearances for the club, netting three goals along the way.

His contract extension also places him in an excellent spot when it comes to representing the Socceroos in their World Cup campaign as it means he will be playing football at an elite level right through to Brazil 2014.
