Qantas Socceroo Josh Kennedy said he can't wait for Australia to take on Japan in the fourth round Asian qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Kennedy, who plays his club football with Japanese club Nagoya Grampus, admitted he was excited about the World Cup draw, which pits the Qantas Socceroos against their big Asian rivals and said it will be another good test for Australia on the road to Brazil.

"The fact that I play my club football in Japan [makes it exciting]. We have such a good rivalry with Australia and Japan the last few years and World Cups and it-s definitely a special occasion.

"[Australia are] a strong team. We play for each other. We-re not a team of individuals and we definitely fight to the end. I think that-s what-s always going to be tough to beat us."

After featuring against the Central Coast Mariners in their 1-1 AFC Champions League draw against Grampus midweek, Kennedy said the chance to return to Australia and play on home soil was something he always looked forward to.

"I think the fact that I get to come back and play in front of Aussie fans will make it a special occasion. Obviously most of my career I have been overseas so I get the chance to come home in front of friends and family and home fans that-s a big buzz."

And with tickets for the mouth-watering clash, Kennedy also had a message for Qantas Socceroos fans:

"Come down support us. We-d love to have you at the game and we-ll do everything to get the three points and make our way to the World Cup."
