The CommBank Young Matildas will have their chance to finish the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2024™ on a high when they take on Korea Republic in the third match play-off tonight (AEDT).
Australia went through to the final four after finishing at the top of Group A, however, was defeated 5-1 by the six-time champions, Japan, in the semi-final. Australia will take on Korea Republic for the second time this tournament, fighting for 3rd place.
The two sides met in the opening game of the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2024™, with a late goal from defender Naomi Chinnama sealing a 2-1 win for Australia in tough snowy conditions.
The CommBank Young Matildas already booked their spot in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Colombia 2024™ after finishing first in their group.
