Up to five CommBank Matildas could be involved in the blockbuster clash between Melbourne Victory and Western United on Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, Sydney FC's Cortnee Vine may return, having missed their midweek fixture with a minor injury.

The first A-League weekend of 2024 gets underway on Saturday, 5pm AEDT as Newcastle Jets host Canberra United. A win for the Jets could propel them into the top six, however, Canberra will be looking to build on their promising draw against Sydney FC midweek, with Commbank Matildas legend Michelle Heyman edging ever closer to her 100th A-league Women's goal.

Adelaide United take on league leaders Melbourne City on Saturday, 5.30pm AEDT. After two wins on the bounce, the Reds were brought back to earth with a comprehensive defeat to Newcastle last week. It would take something special for them to get something out of a City side that put five past Brisbane last game.
Chloe Logarzo’s Western United have a knack of taking points off local rivals Melbourne Victory in their short history in the competition, and will be hoping to do so again on Saturday, 6pm AEDT. Victory were of course bolstered by the return of Alex Chidiac last week, while Lydia Williams and Elise Kellond-Knight are expected to start. Emily Gielnik has been named in the extended squad after a lengthy period out of the side with injury and may feature.
The Central Coast Mariners were unlucky in their loss against high-flying Perth Glory last week, and will be hoping to turn a good performance into three points as they take on Cortnee Vine and Jada Whyman’s Sydney FC on Sunday, 6pm AEDT. A win for the Mariners could see them sneak into the top six on goal difference with a game in hand, while Sydney will want to keep in striking distance of the top of the table. Kyah Simon has been named in the extended squad for the Mariners, but is yet to appear in a match-day squad.
Meanwhile, Brisbane Roar take on the Wellington Phoenix on Sunday, 6pm AEDT. The Roar are now winless in eight games and will be desperate to change that against the Phoenix. Tameka Yallop is expected to start for the Roar, but is yet to turn her side's fortunes around. If the midfielder can provide a significant performance for her hometown club, along with a first goal of the season on Sunday, it would go a long way to helping her side to three points.
Western Sydney Wanderers travel to Perth Glory for the final match of the round on Sunday, 10pm AEDT. The Glory are still only three points away from league leaders Melbourne City and will be hoping to reward their home fans with another three points. The Wanderers are no easy-beats, however – they are particularly dangerous in transition and will be looking to exploit any weaknesses in the Glory in and out of possession.
