Our CommBank Matildas were heavily influential, with Tameka Yallop scoring her first goal of the season to help the Brisbane Roar to their first victory in nine games, while Chloe Logarzo’s brace lifted Western United to a decisive win over cross-town rivals Melbourne Victory.

The round got underway on Saturday with a scintillating 3-3 draw between the Newcastle Jets and Canberra United. Canberra took a 2-1 lead in the first half, goals to Nicki Flannery and Kiwi Deven Jackson overturning an early Sarina Bolden goal.
The Jets hit back after the break –Young Matilda Lara Gooch's strike levelled the scores, before MelindaJ Barbieri finished what could have been the winner.
It was not to be for the Jets. American centre-back Sarah Clark stole the show in the 84th minute with a stunner from well outside the penalty area, in a goal of the season contender.
The result means that Newcastle is now level on points with Western Sydney Wanderers in sixth, while Canberra are still rooted to the bottom of the ladder.
Melbourne City showed their title winning credentials with a thumping 5-0 victory over Adelaide United. Young Matilda Daniela Galic was the star, the 17-year-old becoming the second-youngest player to score a hat-trick in the A-League Women – while also managing to contribute an assist. It means that they finish the round six points clear on top of the table.

Western United stunned Melbourne Victory, with two goals to Chloe Logarzo helping them to a 4-1 victory over their rivals. Goals to Keiwa Hieda and Adriana Taranto gave Western a two-goal advantage at half-time, before Logarzo’s brace sealed the win.
Lydia Williams, Elise Kellond-Knight and Alex Chidiac started the match for Melbourne Victory but were unable to have a substantial impact on proceedings. Williams left the field at half-time after sustaining an ankle knock that at this stage coach Jeff Hopkins has assessed as minor.
Chidiac had some nice touches in her first start for the club, but could not make any count. Emily Gielnik was unable to make the matchday squad with injury.
The Central Coast Mariners played out a scoreless draw with Sydney FC on Sunday. The Mariners were the dominant side in front of their home crowd, with more shots and possession, but could not make their chances count.
It leaves Sydney FC in a precarious position – only two points separate them from falling out of the top six, albeit with a game in hand on most of those around them.
Jada Whyman started in goals for Sydney FC and continued her role in the side being the most defensively sound in the league with another clean sheet.
Cortnee Vine was unavailable with a calf injury for the Sky Blues, while Kyah Simon is still yet to feature in a matchday squad for the Mariners at the halfway point of the season.
A goal for Tameka Yallop helped the Brisbane Roar to their first victory in nine games as they came from behind to defeat the Phoenix 2-1.
The Phoenix struck first through Isabel Cox, but goals to Yallop and youngster Kijah Stephenson either side of the break lifted the Roar to victory.
It puts them one point away from the top six and right back in the finals contention, in a packed midtable. In fact, only five points currently separate the Mariners in tenth and Western United in third.

A brace to Sophie Harding meant that the Wanderers finished the round in sixth, defeating Perth Glory 2-0 away from home. The striker is now equal-top of the golden boot race alongside Canberra United’s Vesna Milivojevic with eight goals.
It is also the record for most goals ever in a season for a Wanderers player – with half the season still to play!
