Westfield Matildas attacker Kyah Simon has made a successful return from injury as Houston took points off runaway NWSL league-leaders North Carolina on Monday (AEST).
Simon returned from a groin injury and played 67 minutes as the Dash held the high-flying Courage to a 1-1 draw in Texas.
Kealia Ohai gave the Dash the lead early in the second half before the Courage, who are 12 points clear at the top of the NWSL Ladder, drew level 10 minutes from time via Frannie Crouse.
Simon was one of Houston’s most dangerous outlets throughout the match, firing off three shots on target but each time, keeper Katelyn Rowland had an answer.
Despite sitting in seventh position on the ladder, the Dash are closing in on the final positions on the back of just one defeat from their last seven games.
With the league to take a hiatus due to a FIFA international break, the Dash are next in action on June 22 when they host reigning NWSL champion Portland Thorns at BBVA Compass Stadium.
Elsewhere and there were three more Aussies in action as Seattle Reign and Orlando Pride played out a goalless draw in Seattle.
While Steph Catley missed her second game in succession for Reign with a groin problem, Lydia Williams started in goal and kept another clean sheet.
Williams, who has been sharing the keeping duties with Michelle Betos, has now conceded just one goal in four starts this season.
Alanna Kennedy and Emily van Egmond both played the full 90 minutes for the Pride.
Kennedy came the closest to breaking the deadlock in the first-half, with her header rattling back off the crossbar, while van Egmond forced an excellent save out of Williams with 17 minutes left.
The point for each side means the Reign stay in second spot, two clear of the third-placed Pride.
